The Art Room

Welcome to the FCCDS Art Room!

Pictures and posts will be added periodically to update parents and community members of all the new additions to our Art Room. The Art Room is where our imaginations are stretched, our creativity is stimulated, our respect and interaction with others is valued, and where we are safe to freely express our ideas and thoughts. The Art Room is used for more than just coloring with markers, but it is a Arts-Inspired environment that will be used to teach children about the power and uses of art in our world, expose students to all the various forms and styles of art, and encourage students to discover what art speaks to them and how they feel about various artworks. The Art Room is an important component of our learning and, thus, it must have its own page!

Hello FCCDS Families!

Thank you to all those who have been collecting recyclable materials for the art room, which have been greatly appreciated! In addition to the materials already listed, there are some more recyclable materials that can be used for the creation of art projects. If you use any of these or have any left overs, please bring them in so we can put them to good use!

-       Pizza Boxes (Any size and, preferably, without leftover pizza remainders)

-       Bottle Caps (Of all sizes and colors)

-       Old Magazines (We desperately need some)

-       Styrofoam Egg Cartons (Again, we desperately need some)

-       Aluminum Soda Cans

-       Old CD’s

-       Brown Paper Bags

Thank you again for your continued support for the art room here at FCCDS, and thank you for following our art blog!

Free Time Weaving

A new addition to the FCCDS Art Room was a new weaving loom!

Once students finish their art projects and are all cleaned up, students in grades 2nd - 5th will have the option to weave on our new loom! This is not only a great activity for students to create art during their free time but it also builds fine motor skills, cooperation, and specific thinking.
Students are very excited to get started, and we can not wait to see what they create!

The art projects are not the only fun part of art class! When art projects are completed, students have the opportunity to work on several different activities. Weaving, as seen in a previous post, is a growing favorite! Connectors are a close 2nd! In the photos below, 3rd grade boys worked together to create a city, including skyscrapers and surrounding buildings! Continue to check back and see more of our classroom fun!

Chloe works on her weaving skills after finishing her project.
